Consider Xenon for Under Cabinet Lighting

Xenon lights are relatively new to the market, so if you haven?t heard of them don?t be alarmed. However, Xenon bulbs are quickly becoming a go-to item when it comes to under cabinet lighting for several reasons worth noting.

Xenon bulbs give off a virtually identical light to halogen bulbs which has been used regularly to replace standard incandescent bulbs because of its greater light output and directional ability. However, Xenon bulbs run cooler than halogen, which generates a great deal of radiant heat, and Xenon bulbs also last up to twenty times longer than halogen lamps. The average burn life of a Xenon bulb is 15,000 hours.  Xenon can also be dimmed with standard incandescent dimmers, oftem making them a better choice even than fluorescent lights. Thus homeowners who are beginning to learn more about the benefits of Xenon are choosing such fixtures for their under cabinet lighting needs.

Of course, Xenon fixtures can be used in other areas, but it happens to be an ideal light for under cabinet illumination due to its brightness which easily removes shadowing from a counter top. Everyone knows that having ample light for food preparation in the kitchen is essential for such chores and for safety as well. Xenon provides a great solution to the problem and it can also save extensively on energy cost in the long run.

A variety of fixture selections exist which house Xenon bulbs. Mini-bars contain one, two, or three Xenon spotlights. These mini-bars can be linked together to form a longer bar when required. Xenon counter lights are specifically designed for under cabinet lighting purposes and are good for placing under kitchen, as well as other types of cabinets, over desks, work areas and in closets. These counter fixtures contain long wedge shaped bulbs and provide a greater coverage of illumination.

Puck versions of Xenon lights are also available both in a normal surface attaching design, as well as recessed designs. Of course, recessed designs offer a sleeker and more stylish look, but can be a challenge when installing on the undersides of kitchen cabinets as the housing can interfere with storage space. However, recessed Xenon fixtures are excellent to use over bars, breakfast nooks, or other entertainment areas.

When the time comes to add an under cabinet light source to your kitchen, strongly consider acquiring fixtures which utilize Xenon bulbs to meet the need. Not only will Xenon light brighten your kitchen, creating a nice, illuminated atmosphere for work and entertainment, but they can also save on operating and replacement expense.
