Gianni Truvianni’s Life as a Writer
The life of a writer and all that it brings is what I seek for myself as it is when I am putting ideas that be my own on pen drive that I feel myself at total liberty to create and have things be exclusively as I wish them to be with place being not available for those compromises which are imposed upon us when dealing with others. To my interpretation being a writer means creating stories from my imagination and expressing in words the thoughts that my mind conjures up along with the ideas and concepts of life which I put on my pen drive and eventually on the internet or in print for others hopefully to read. This what I declare to be true for myself is the basic part of it though its amounts to very little if I fail to infuse my written work with the passion and vitality which be so abundant in me. With regards to my ideas it is not with the believe that others have not their own or that mine be higher in any form that I present them but in the hope of perhaps introducing those whose eyes should take in the sentences I put down with a new perspective of life or the world that I do so.
I can not speak for others in this world nor will I make attempts at guessing what it is they desire from life but for myself it is with all certainty that I claim that a writer and nothing else; do I wish to be. This choice of mine to become what I am; I feel is not so much one that I have taken but one my aptitude has imposed upon me or perhaps my lack of the same in any other field; depending on how one looks at it. This last point perhaps can be debated weather I have any talent or not by those who read my work however what I know with certainty is that it is my life’s adoration as my tempestuous nature lends itself to it like nothing else I have ever attempted.
In my book “What Should Not Matter”, there is a point stated that we all have one thing and primordially only one which allows us to put to use all that be our inner selves in a fashion that be useful not only to ourselves but those around us. Those whose abilities are geared toward leading others in actions that require coordination have the military; as was the case with Hannibal Barca or Julius Caesar; while those whose skills are geared toward creating stories and philosophy on paper in the shape of words and sentences have writing as did Cicero, Voltaire, and do I. This however weather or not I have writing as a means to let out what I am and posses; be not for me to judge but those to come in centuries to be, should I and my work survive the years before that point.
I, of course am aware there are many things I or a person could be that would earn him or her a large income and achieve success along with fame such as an actor, or politician, musician, etc. I however feel that as a writer I can achieve what I long for like nothing else and that being; a name capable of stretching across the boundaries of time which are years, centuries, millenniums as hopefully my work and name will not become part of the dust that is what did not endure. It is the weight of this burden or perhaps inspiration that drives me to deliver everything from my being and in this I say not even but specially my private life; excluding nothing from my work as I consider intimacy to be what one has an obligation to share if it be one’s true desire to be a writer.
Greatness is a point of view but from mine, it is what lasts that is and by this I mean not only the names of those who have lived but their creations for instance many will claim Alexander of Macedon to have been great as even this name was given to him but was he? This he may have been but if we regard his deeds then it is with little doubt that I can claim for my thinking they hardly if at all deserve the name. True; his was to become king at the age of 19 but then again this was not by his merit as he merely inherited a title at an early age, given his father, Philip died when Alexander was still young. This with even some holding the suspicion that Philip (the one-eyed) was killed by his son whose ambitions included wearing a crown at an early age. Regarding this fact we could also consider the fact that the aim of a man should not be to be king but how he may use his crown to serve those whom he rules as opposed to merely himself.
Returning to Alexander, he did create an empire but if we look closer; what did he have to do to obtain such a goal? Defeat a king who though possessor of a large army was neither a man of internal fortitude nor the tactical abilities that would have made his superior numbers count at Guagamela. This taking in to consideration that numbers alone are not what wins in battle specially since Darius’s men had training and equipment that was inferior to Alexander’s army; not that their motivation to win was of a nobler material.
In all this an empire Alexander did create or did he simply dethrone the man who ruled it at the time by taking advantage of his military incompetence and cowardice? This last point maybe one for debate but a large empire Alexander did survey at the very young age of 25 which he expanded in to a larger one. This was during his life time though in taking in to consideration his deed of building an empire; made almost exclusively through war, we should be aware that this empire disintegrated in almost as little time as it took to make. It is today however that we may look back at what was but this is just my point; it was and is no longer while the works of Fermi, Einstein, Wagner, Cicero, and so many others who created what changed the world and the minds of those in it still is. It is with the yearning that mine too be remembered that I dare even create it. For if we look at all else that includes personal fortune or fame; they are of little consequence but to the individual who has them and perhaps those who surround him or her for if time was able to erode both the Soviet and Roman empires; why would it not be able to do likewise with the personal fortunes or fame of individuals.
I for my interpretation of history have read about many a person but if we look at this factor with the eye of the philosopher; what are they but names on a page if there accomplishments also did not make it through time? This being the case for even Napoleon; who claimed that as great as his military victories were they could not equal his greatest feat, which was the implementation of the Napoleonic code, which has lasted till this very day. For if we really think the matter over; it is the deeds which changed the lives or perhaps mentality of those to come after which are what can be called great and not so much the individuals who were responsible for them. Some may think me naïve for even hoping; let alone expecting either myself or my work to reach this mark which I mention and to those who do so I hold no malice of deliberation toward. No, mine is not such but the will to demonstrate to them as well as others that include myself that sometimes it is believe and faith in one’s own abilities that makes the incredible happen more then actually having them.

My Life V2 by Wagner, Richard [Hardcover] $46.14 We travellersBlandine and I, that issoon fell into a frivolous mood which was much intensified by Olliviers query, repeated after each burst of laughter, Questce quil dit? He had to submit goodhumouredly to our continuous joking in German, though we always responded in French to his frequent demands for tonique or jambon cru, which seemed to form the staple of his diet. It was long after midnight when we reached Nuremberg, where we were obliged to halt for the night. We got ourselves conveyed to an inn by dint of much effort, and were kept waiting there some time before the door opened. Richard Wagner: My Life $105.14 This reprint is of the first English paperback edition of Richard Wagners autobiography. This is a primary document of enormous importance for all Wagner enthusiasts, being virtually the sole source of information of the composers childhood and youth. Written for Wagners second wife, Cosima, and his patron, King Ludwig II, the autobiography runs from the composers birth up to the eve of his fiftyfirst birthday in 1864. Given the intended readership and the circumstances of its composition it is hardly surprising that Wagner should either omit or distort facts from time to time: he does not linger over previous affairs, he portrays his relationship with his first wife, Minna, as a good deal more distant than it really was and he plays down his involvement in the Dresden uprising of 1849. Despite all this, the book presents a panoramic view of Wagners times and contemporaries and offers a unique perspective on the operas themselves. This translation is of the complete edition published in Munich in 1963 and based on the manuscript in the Wagner Archives in Bayreuth. Wagners slips of memory are noted, as are references to obscure names and events. Author: Wagner, Richard/ Wagner, Edward Ed./ Whittall, Mary Binding Type: Paperback Number of Pages: 800 Publication Date: 1987/09/24 Language: English Dimensions: 9.00 x 6.00 x 1.56 inches |

Wagner and Venice $104.24 Richard Wagner had a longstanding love affair with the city of Venice. His sudden death there in 1883 also initiated a process through which Wagner and his reputation were integrated into Venice's own cumulative cultural image. In Wagner and Venice, John Barker examines the connections between the great composer and the great city. The author traces patterns of Wagner's visits to Venice during his lifetime, considers what the city came to mean to Wagner, and investigates the details surrounding his death. Barker also examines how Venice viewed Wagner, by analyzing the landmark presentation of Wagner's Ring cycle two months after the composer's death, and by considering Venice's subsequent extensive Wagner celebrations and commemorations. Throughout the volume, biographical detail from new and previously unavailable sources provides readers with a fresh interpretation of this seminal figure. Those already familiar with Wagner's life will find new information about, and insights into, the man and his career, while simultaneously discovering a neglected corner of Italian and Venetian cultural history. John W. Barker is emeritus professor of history at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, specializing in medieval (including Venetian) history. He is also a passionate music lover and record collector, and an active music critic and journalist. |

The Life of Richard Wagner (Paperback) $89.96 Ernest Newman`s four-volume Life of Wagner, originally published between 1933 and 1947, remains a classic work of biography. The culmination of forty years` research on the composer and his works (Newman`s first Study of Wagner was first published in 1899), these books present a detailed portrait of perhaps the most influential, the most controversial and the most frequently reviled composer in the whole history of western music. Newman was aware that no biography can ever claim to be complete or completely accurate: `The biographer can at no stage hope to have reached the final truth. All he can do is to make sure that whatever statement he may make, whatever conclusion he may come to, shall be based on the whole of the evidence available at the time of writing.` In this aim he triumphantly succeeds. Volume 1 covers the years 1813 to 1848. |

The Wagner Operas $46.1 In this classic guide, the foremost Wagner expert of our century discusses ten of Wagner's most beloved operas, illuminates their key themes and the myths and literary sources behind the librettos, and demonstrates how the composer's style changed from work to work. Acclaimed as the most complete and intellectually satisfying analysis of the Wagner operas, the book has met with unreserved enthusiasm from specialist and casual music lover alike. Here, available for the first time in a single paperback volume, is the perfect companion for listening to, or attending, The Flying Dutchman, Tannhauser, Lohengrin, Tristan and Isolde, Die Meistersinger, the four operas of the Ring Cycle, and Parsifal. Newman enriches his treatment of the stories, texts, and music of the operas with biographical and historical materials from the store of knowledge that he acquired while completing his numerous books on Wagner, including the magisterial Life of Richard Wagner. The text of The Wagner Operas is filled with hundreds of musical examples from the scores, and all the important leitmotifs and their interrelationships are made clear in Newman's lucid prose. "This is as fine an introduction as any ever written about a major composer's masterpieces. Newman outlines with unfailing clarity and astuteness each opera's dramatic sources, and he takes the student through the completed opera, step by step, with all manner of incidental insight along the way."--Robert Bailey, New York University |

Wagner Controversies $93.99 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The German composer Richard Wagner was a controversial figure during his lifetime, and has continued to be so after his death.Even today he is associated in the minds of many with Nazism and his operas are thought to extol the virtues of Aryan supermen. The writer and Wagner scholar Bryan Magee has written: I sometimes think there are two Wagners in our culture, almost unrecognizably different from one another: the Wagner possessed by those who know his work, and the Wagner imagined by those who know him only by name and reputation. Most of these perceptions arise from Wagners published opinions on a number of topics. Wagner was a voluminous writer and published essays and pamphlets on a wide range of subjects throughout his life. (Many of Wagners writings are available online in English translations at The Wagner Library.) While his musicdramas have an immediate appeal, Wagners writing style is verbose, unclear and turgid, which has greatly added to the confusion about his opinions Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Timpledon, Miriam T./ Marseken, Susan F. Jersey Sure by Van Wagner, Gilbert [Paperback] $31.15 Our world changed dramatically in 1964. The US recovered from the loss of JFK, handled the British Invasion led by the Beatles, and pushed to put on man on the moon. For a ten year old growing up on Keansburg, New Jersey, the bigger issues were a whole Saturday of trickortreating, a pinewood derby car made with a butter knife and a paint dunk, and a mother determined to be the first one on the block with an artificial Christmas Treeone that looked liked it was made of aluminum foil (the tree, not the mother). Put the boy in Catholic School with Nuns more like Gestapo, live life year long in a blue collar resort town 40 miles from NYC, and you have a coming of age tale that captures the fun and foibles as life in the fifth grade. Richard Wagner's Women $35.55 Richard Wagner's music contains some of the most powerful portrayals of emotions in all opera, particularly love. This book is a well-researched and exhaustive analysis of the role of women in Wagner's operas/dramas, in which the author sets out to analyse the composer's intentions and the way he realises them. Wagner's varied portrayal of the relationships of the sexes is revealingly interpreted. There was no doubt that Wagner regarded women subservient to men. This comes out not only in his life but also in his works, where we see the power of women's sexuality posing a threat to male dominance. Rieger's analysis rests convincingly and comprehensively on the music itself. EVA RIEGER is Professor Emeritus in Historical Musicology at the University of Bremen and lives in the principality of Liechtenstein. |
