I purchased this netbook for my wife as a b-day gift. I have an earlier model which I love. The upgrades make this a great small computer for her. for both work and pleasure. I would recommend this product to anyone.

Cool Toy

I got this little guy to carry to work and travel with. I am not a techie and know little about the inner workings of computer stuff.I just wanted something I could tote all my digital stuff around on so I did my research and read other reviews by people who were techie smart and decided on this netbook, as having the fastest new atom processor, the webcam and mic I wanted, and the right hard drive size as well as a matte screen. I am very very happy with this product. I have downloaded kindle for pc onto it, so I can carry my ebooks with me...what a great idea Amazon...thanks. I have networked several movies onto it as well as my music, so now I have a dozen movies which play fine with good color and no hesitations, half a dozen books, and loads of songs where ever I want to take them, plus I can surf the web and type a letter, even work on my photoshop when I want. and it's all in a tiny space. it sure seems sturdy enough, well made,not cheap feeling, the keyboard is easy to use and almost regular size, the keys aren't too small or mushy feeling... I LOVE the matte finish on the outside and the matte screen is perfect. I get at least 9 hours of battery life, and that is reading while having a movie playing at the same time (split screen)you can have kindle open on one side and real player going on the other. Plus it recharges really quickly with the little cord that comes with it. Maybe 2 hours at most and it's ready to go again. It is really intuitive and found my home network immediately with no headaches and finds the wifi in places that have it with the click of a button. Although the owners manual is seriously lame, you basically just insert the battery, charge it and go. Even I could figure it out and that is saying something about just how easy it is. 
what I would change...how it opens, it has just a tiny tiny spot to lift with, and you basically have to use 2 hands and pull from the sides like a clam. and it's heavy in the back. not a deal breaker, but if you are holding it while reading (like in bed or in the car) it can be a bit awkward. the sound...it comes from the very front somehow and is low and kind of tinny. But, sounds just fine with earphones, which I use most of the time anyway. 
I would recommend this to any body looking for a portable multi-media toy.

Great little computer for travel

I have owned this netbook now for about a month-purchased for a trip to Italy so I could load photos, Skype back home and also have internet available to look up things about the places we were going to or had already been. It was perfect for that. Also handy for the long flight-my wife plays scrabble and we downloaded the game and this kept her busy for a while. The matte screen is fantastic, it is bright and glare free. Windows 7 starter loads quickly and has just about all the features you need. It also has a faster loading operating system (FastBoot) if you want to use it for just browsing the internet. It has bluetooth and I got a great little Microsoft Bluetooth mouse to use with it. Also battery life is more than adequate but not sure if it goes up to 11 hours. A lot of thought went into designing this netbook and I think overall it's perfect, especially for the price.

Netbook Review

I had researched many netbooks before settling on this netbook with its large hd and long battery life. It was a excellent choice. Prior to this purchase I used to leave my desktop on all day and now only boot it up when I need specific files or applications not installed on this netbook. There is a mode that lets you bypass windows for really fast access to the net. I bought this netbook for when we travel so I keep most personnel data on my desktop but have found that I and my wife are using it daily. Definitely consider this one when choosing a netbook.

Asus with No fingerprints and Matte Screen

I have owned this netbook now for about two weeks and it is perfect for what I use it for, outside and in the car at work. The Matte screen is fantastic, it is bright and glare free. I have used other Asus models before with Glossy screens in the car and they can be a nightmare with all the reflections. For my use, it fits the bill perfectly. I find windows seven starter to be easy to work with, you can change the wallpaper and customize the screensaver very easily, just google it and follow the instructions. It will save you some money from upgrading to home premium. The screen is very bright and the fan is exceptionally quiet. I like the the looks of the "chicklet" keyboards on other Asus models but the functionality of this keyboard is easier to type on and has a full size right shift key. Like all Asus models, you can turn off the mouse pad by hitting FN+F3 in case your thumbs tend to hit the mouse pad and make the cursor jump when you touch type and it has a dedicated mute by hitting FN+F10. The sound is acceptable for a netbook and better than the toshibas I listened to. I keep the brightness all the way up, use a bluetooth mouse and keep the setting on super preformance and I get between five and six hours of use on battery. The textured lid and wrist rest surface inside won't show fingerprints and the lid has a small ridge to use to open the netbook without touching the screen. Alot of thought went into designing this netbook.

Since I got this netbook I take it everywhere with me. It does everything that you need-email, internet browse and other things. I use it for book reading instead of my Kindle. It is light weight and I can read while in bed with it. I absolutely recommend this netbook for anyone. 
Perfect product-I have had it for several weeks now and have had no problems. Try it-you will love it.

This is my 2nd ASUS Eee netbook and let me say that I am really plEeeased!

I have several computers (as I think many people do now) and I wanted a little netbook for long plane flights and for just around town. I bought my first one in June of 2009 (a PC 1000HE) and really enjoyed it. Everyone that I showed it to wanted it. This happened so often that I eventually gave it to one of my sons who's Apple notebook had just suffered a horrible death (it was drowned by a glass of beer). 

Several months went by and when my primary notebook computer suffered a similar fate (we are Irish after all) I decided that it was time for me to get another netbook. I was happy with my old ASUS Eee so I saw no reason to switch to another brand. This is a great little computer! As a matter of fact I am using it right now. Here are a few of my non-technical observations: 

* Many people are worried about the small keyboard but I wear XL gloves and have had no problem getting used to the 85% sized board 

* I bought the ASUS USB 2.0 8x DVD Writer External Optical Drive (SDRW-08D1S-U) for this one and am very glad that I did. I had to download a different media player so that I could watch DVDs on it but once I did I was able to watch DVDs on a plane with little bulk 

* I have downloaded some of my favorite video editing software programs and they run just fine on the ASUS 

* If I don't get upgraded to First Class on a flight I usually don't get enough room to use a regular sized notebook computer. This one is the perfect size for when you have to fly coach. 

O-K, this is not a full-featured or full-powered laptop. However, it's really small and it's less than 400 bucks including the drive and a case! If you are looking for just one computer to do everything you might want to look elsewhere, but for what this was designed for it is great.
