Meaning of touch typing and its importance

In the earlier part of the century when computers were not popular people used to type documents on a typewriter but typewriters were available only in large organizations. Today as times have changed the typewriter has been replaced by computers.

Meaning of Touch Typing:-

Touch Typing means to engage in typing or writing a document without looking at the keyboard. In simple word we can say that typing is a skill to writing on the computer without looking on the keyboard. This skill can be improved by a person using touch typing software.

Use or role of touch typing in the computers:-

Touch typing plays a very important role in the field of computers. Computer professionals have to type on a computer al the time. Typing is very important for a computer professional whether they are computer operator or a programmer. Because the computer operator always has to write the document on the computer application software and a programmer also has to type the program code on the compiler. These both tasks require the rich quality of typing skill. A person lacking typing skills can not make proper use of a computer. For example if a person writes a document within one hour on paper by pen but when he/she types it on the computer then it takes more time from paper writing then there is no benefit of computer in the document writing's to make the proper use of computer it is necessary to improve the typing speed and we can improve the typing speed by using touch typing software.

Why It Is Necessary:-

Touch typing is necessary in day to day life. For example, if we go for any job interview in computers field then the first condition is that you should be good in typing. A typing speed is said to be good if a typist types 30-35 words per minute (wpm).  A typist with such speed is qualified for job otherwise not. So, you need to have a good typing practice to achieve this speed, which can be accomplished with the help of touch typing software.
