Signal Extraction $109 The book provides deep insights into the signal extraction problem - especially at the boundary of a sample, where asymmetric filters must be used - and how to solve it optimally. The traditional model-based approach (TRAMO/SEATS or X-12-ARIMA) is an inefficient estimation method because it relies on one-step ahead forecasting performances (of a model) whereas the signal extraction problem implicitly requires good multi-step ahead forecasts also. Unit roots are important properties of the input signal because they generate a set of constraints for the best extraction filter. Since traditional tests essentially rely on one-step ahead forecasting performances, new tests are presented here which implicitly account for multi-step ahead forecasting performances too. The gain in efficiency obtained by the new estimation method is analyzed in great detail, using simulated data as well as 'real world' time series. |

Sampling (Signal Processing) $53.63 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles In signal processing, sampling is the reduction of a continuous signal to a discrete signal. A common example is the conversion of a sound wave (a continuoustime signal) to a sequence of samples (a discretetime signal). A sample refers to a value or set of values at a point in time and/or space. A sampler is a subsystem or operation that extracts samples from a continuous signal. A theoretical ideal sampler produces samples equivalent to the instantaneous value of the continuous signal at the desired points. For convenience, we will discuss signals which vary with time. However, the same results can be applied to signals varying in space or in any other dimension and similar results are obtained in two or more dimensions. Nonlinear Signal Processing $129 Nonlinear Signal Processing: A Statistical Approach focuses on unifying the study of a broad and important class of nonlinear signal processing algorithms which emerge from statistical estimation principles, and where the underlying signals are non-Gaussian, rather than Gaussian, processes. Notably, by concentrating on just two non-Gaussian models, a large set of tools is developed that encompass a large portion of the nonlinear signal processing tools proposed in the literature over the past several decades. Key features include: * Numerous problems at the end of each chapter to aid development and understanding * Examples and case studies provided throughout the book in a wide range of applications bring the text to life and place the theory into context * A set of 60+ MATLAB software m-files allowing the reader to quickly design and apply any of the nonlinear signal processing algorithms described in the book to an application of interest is available on the accompanying FTP site. |

Mobile Phone Signal $71.7 A mobile phone signal is the strength of the connection the mobile phone has to its network. Depending on various factors, such as proximity to a tower, the signal may vary. Most mobile devices use a set of bars of varying heights to display the strength of the signal where the device is located. Traditionally five bars are used; see five by five. Generally, a stronger mobile phone signal is easier to obtain in an urban area, though urban areas do have some dead zones where a reception cannot be obtained. On the contrary, many rural or minimally inhabited areas lack a signal or have a very weak reception, but many mobile phone providers are attempting to set up towers in parts of these areas most likely to be occupied by users, such as along major highways. Even some national parks and other popular tourist destinations away from urban areas now have cell phone receptions. Signal Processing of Power Quality Disturbances $161 Bridging the gap between power quality and signal processing This innovative new text brings together two leading experts, one from signal processing and the other from power quality. Combining their fields of expertise, they set forth and investigate various types of power quality disturbances, how measurements of these disturbances are processed and interpreted, and, finally, the use and interpretation of power quality standards documents. As a practical aid to readers, the authors make a clear distinction between two types of power quality disturbances: * Variations: disturbances that are continuously present * Events: disturbances that occur occasionally A complete analysis and full set of tools are provided for each type of disturbance: * Detailed examination of the origin of the disturbance * Signal processing measurement techniques, including advanced techniques and those techniques set forth in standards documents * Interpretation and analysis of measurement data * Methods for further processing the features extracted from the signal processing into site and system indices The depth of coverage is outstanding: the authors present and analyze material that is not covered in the standards nor found in the scientific literature. This text is intended for two groups of readers: students and researchers in power engineering who need to use signal processing techniques for power system applications, and students and researchers in signal processing who need to perform power system disturbance analyses and diagnostics. It is also highly recommended for any engineer or utility professional involved in power quality monitoring. |

Channel Master CM7778 Signal Amplifier $59.99 1 x F-type - Input 16 dB - 3 dB Noise - VHF 23 dB - 2 dB Noise - UHF 75 Ohm CM7778 Titan2 Preamplifier Power Supply The Channel Master television antenna booster (preamplifier) will amplify digital and HD signals received by your antenna. This antenna amplifier is a high gain, low noise preamplifier used for weak signal areas to allow a weak signal that is present at the antenna to be amplified to a viewable strength. The CM 7778 preamp offers less gain than the CM 7777 but still has enough gain to get the signal from the antenna to the TV set. This preamp is a perfect choice if you are in a strong to medium strength signal area but are still having troubles receive the strongest signals. Preamplifier are also used if you anticipate distributing your signal with a digital splitter to multiple locations throughout your location as splitters reduce the signal strength per output. Acoustic Signal Processing for Ocean Exploration $1049.88 Acoustic Signal Processing for Ocean Explortion has two major goals: (i) to present signal processing algorithms that take into account the models of acoustic propagation in the ocean and; (ii) to give a perspective of the broad set of techniques, problems, and applications arising in ocean exploration. The book discusses related issues and problems focused in model based acoustic signal processing methods. Besides addressing the problem of the propagation of acoustics in the ocean, it presents relevant acoustic signal processing methods like matched field processing, array processing, and localization and detection techniques. These more traditional contexts are herein enlarged to include imaging and mapping, and new signal representation models like time/frequency and wavelet transforms. Several applied aspects of these topics, such as the application of acoustics to fisheries, sea floor swath mapping by swath bathymetry and side scan sonar, autonomous underwater vehicles and communications in underwater are also considered. Cooperative Mimo and Signal Space Diversity $96.59 Many techniques have been proposed in order to overcome the degradation effects of the radio channel and to achieve the higher transmission rate over time or frequency selective fading channels. Multiple antenna system is one of the solutions which can be practically applied to the real communication system nowadays. The diversity gain by using multipleinput multiple output (MIMO) system is investigated in this book for both transmit and receive diversity. The transmit diversity can be obtained by the transmission with spacetime block code (STBC) with the help of signal space diversity. The advantage of signal space diversity is that the diversity gain can be achieved without spending additional power or bandwidth. With signal space diversity, the new set of multidimensional signal constellations are constructed in order to cope with the fading channel. The aim is to reach to the performance of Gaussian channel by using this multidimensional modulation scheme. The receive diversity can also be obtained by the combining techniques when the multiple receive antenna system is applicable.
