Guide to Parallel Parking

If you want to fit your car into a tight space or you're going to be driving in the city, then it is essential to have knowledge of parallel parking. Known for having restricted space and design, many parking lots in the city are designed parallel. Whether it's your fist time driving or you have never faced the need to Parallel Park, there is absolutely no need to avoid parking space. If you avoid such spaces, then you may end up not having any space to park at all.

Follow the step-by-step directions to do it in a safe and quick way.

Step-by-step Directions
Step 1:
First of all, find a space where you can safely get your car in without hitting any other car. Look for a space that is at least few longer times than your car.

Step 2:
As you approach the space, check the rear-view mirror and driver-side mirror to make sure that other cars are not close to you.

Step 3:
Signal towards the space as you are approaching, slow down and stop. If another car approaches when you are trying to park, keep signaling and stay where you are. You might have to wave to the other driver so that they will go around.

Step 4:
You would have to line up the vehicle with the car that is parked in front of your desired area. You have to position your vehicle parallel to the parked car, aligning wheel-to-wheel or bumpers. Don't get too much close to the other vehicle.

Step 5:
Now, you have to shift your vehicle in reverse gear.

Step 6:
Make sure that the street behind you is clear of traffic, look at the driver-side mirror before starting to back up.

Step 7:
Look over your other shoulder at the space to assess the gap.

Step 8:
The steering wheel has to be now turned hard right. It will be opposite for drivers in countries that use left lanes.

Step 9:
Now, slowly release the brakes and start backing.

Step 10:
Check at the front and around your car while backing into the space. Make sure you are away from the rear bumper of the vehicle in front of you as you back in.

Step 11:
When the rear of your vehicle is mostly in the space, turn the steering wheel to the left while going backward. Maneuver your way completely into the space and straighten out your car.

Step 12:
Continue to reverse without hitting the vehicle's bumper behind you.

Step 13:
Now shift the gear back and turn the steering wheel in right direction again, then gently move forward toward the curb while centering in to the space.

Step 14:
If all goes well, then you are parallel parked nicely. In case you are not, don't worry and just signal that you are leaving the curb.

Signal Mountain $19.76 Signal Mountain occupies a portion of Waldenas Ridge, a plateau on the lower end of the Appalachian Mountains just outside of Chattanooga. The Creek and Cherokee Indians who used this area for hunting sent smoke signals from the palisades overlooking Moccasin Bend, Williams Island, and the Tennessee River. Union soldiers also sent signals from this lookout, which is now part of Signal Point Park. In 1913, Charles E. James opened the Signal Mountain Inn, beginning the communityas development. Resort amenities included golf, swimming and boating on Rainbow Lake, a casino and dance hall, and daily walks to the mineral waters of Burnt Cabin Springs. During World War I, soldiers stationed at Fort Oglethorpe visited the area to spend time with their families. Dignitaries and movie stars arrived for the fine dining and clear mountain air. From this time on, the community grew by leaps and bounds.
