1987 Mexican Grand Prix $70.1 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Results from the 1987 Formula One Mexican Grand Prix held at Mexico City on October 18, 1987. The Mexican Grand Prix (Gran Premio de Mexico) was a Formula One auto race held at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City. It first appeared as a non championship event in 1962 before being held as a championship event from 19631970 and 19861992. Rumors first surfaced in 2003 that the Mexican Grand Prix might return to the Formula One calendar at a new 70 million circuit, dubbed Mantarraya, to be built near Cancun. In 2005, the governor of the Quintana Roo state (where Cancun is in) boldly stated Mexico would have a Grand Prix on the calendar for 2006. 2008 French Grand Prix $124.27 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles 2008 French Grand Prix (formally the XCIII Grand Prix de France) was a Formula One motor race held on June 22, 2008 at the Circuit de Nevers MagnyCours, France. It was the eighth race of the 2008 Formula One season. The race, contested over 70 laps, was won by Felipe Massa for the Ferrari team after starting from second position. Kimi Raikkonen, who started from pole position, finished second in the other Ferrari car; Jarno Trulli was third in a Toyota. Raikkonen and Massa both made a clean start. Renaults Fernando Alonso, who started third, was overtaken by Trulli and BMW Sauber driver Robert Kubica. The front three of Raikkonen, Massa and Trulli maintained their positions through the first round of pit stops. On lap 30, Raikkonen led Massa by six and a half seconds, and Trulli by 30 seconds. Just before half distance, Raikkonens right exhaust pipe broke, which caused the engine to lose power. Massa, in second place, began lapping quicker than Raikkonen, and he caught and passed him on lap 39. 2002 Brazilian Grand Prix $113.11 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The 2002 Brazilian Grand Prix was a Formula One race held on March 31, 2002 at the Autdromo Jos Carlos Pace. Fastest Lap: Juan Pablo Montoya 1m 16.079s. Soccer legend Pel was supposed to wave the checkered flag. Standing on the stand at races end, he waved the flag too soon and it was Takuma Sato, who was one lap behind the leader, who took the checkered flag first, meaning by technicality that Sato had won the Grand Prix as he was the first driver to see the checkered flag. When the Schumacher brothers arrived, Pel was talking to someone, and forgot to show them the flag. During the morning warmup, Bernoldis Arrows crashed in Turn 2, right by the Medical Car. It went out to help him, and just as the cars driver, Alex Ribeiro, opened the door, Heidfelds Sauber came in, and crashed into the door. Thankfully, both Heidfeld and Ribeiro were all right, especially Ribeiro, who mightve been killed if he had been stepping out. Michael Schumacher gave the Ferrari F2002 its debut in this race. Only one F2002 had been brought to Brazil, leaving Rubens Barrichello to race in the F2001. 1993 Canadian Grand Prix $101.96 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The 1993 Canadian Grand Prix was a Formula One motor race held at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve on June 13, 1993. It was the seventh round of the 1993 Formula One season. There was a two by two formation in qualifying in Canada as the Williams were ahead of the Benettons and the Ferraris. Prost took pole ahead of Hill, Schumacher, Patrese, Berger and Alesi. At the start, Hill beat off Prost while the Benettons were slow and were passed by Berger and the amazing Senna (who had already got ahead of Brundle and then Alesi). Hill was leading Prost, Berger, Senna, Schumacher and Patrese. Senna passed Berger for third on lap 2. On lap 6, Prost took the lead from Hill. Soon afterwards, Schumacher passed Berger with Patrese following him through five laps later. The order stabilised at: Prost, Hill, Senna, Schumacher, Patrese and Berger. During the midrace stops, Hill had a problem and dropped behind Senna and Schumacher. Schumacher now set off after Senna. Senna, with Schumacher right behind, pushed his car too hard and his engine stalled. He was out. 1979 Dutch Grand Prix $70.1 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The 1979 Dutch Grand Prix was a Formula One race held on 26 August 1979 at Zandvoort. Arnoux put the Renault on pole but the slow start of the turbo allowed Jones to break free and the cars of Arnoux, Regazzoni, Jabouille, and Villeneuve to fight for second. Arnoux and Regazzoni collided eliminating the Williams on the spot. Arnoux only lasted to the end of the lap as he limped back to the pits. Scheckter fell to last place on the first lap and began the task of working through the field. Villeneuve, who made it through the first lap ahead of Jabouille, passed Jones at Tarzan on lap 11. He gave the lead back to Jones when he spun on lap 47. On lap 51, just after passing the pits, Villeneuves left rear tyre exploded causing him to spin. He regained control to begin one of the wildest laps in history. He drove an entire lap on two tyres, the right front was in the air and the left rear was shredding rubber and sparking with the pavement. Reaction was mixed. It was either an act of the ultimate competitor not wanting to give up or an irresponsible, emotional decision. The Limit: Life and Death on the 1961 Grand Prix Circuit $23.17 THE LIMIT tells the true story of Phil Hill, a lowly California mechanic who, defying all expectations, became the first American to win the Grand Prix championship. In the tradition of "Seabiscuit" and "The Right Stuff," Cannell's high-octane narrative evokes the lives of the daredevils who tempted fate each Sunday by driving well over 150 mph without benefit of seat belts or roll bars. Written with the pacing of a novel, THE LIMIT pits Hill against his Ferrari teammate, German Count Wolfgang Von Trips, as they jockey for the top spot throughout the 1961 season, culminating in one of the deadliest races in Grand Prix history. THE LIMIT captures a distinct moment when men the world over were driven to push the boundaries of the possible. From the stink of grease-smothered pits to the long anxious nights in lonely European hotels, THE LIMIT promises to be one of the most thrilling reads this season. |
