TAEUS International Corporation, the world's only one-stop intellectual property business engineering firm, announces the TAEUS Patent Exchange, a free, self-service web portal for direct marketing and licensing of intellectual property (IP).
One look at the TAEUS Patent Exchange (http://www.taeus.com/patent) and you realize it is something fresh and different. It is a user-friendly, self-service web destination that allows IP holders to list their technologies, bundle them into portfolios, manage their offerings, and monitor viewing statistics, at no charge. Buyers can browse and analyze patents and portfolios with "light" versions of TAEUS analytic tools, and communicate directly with patent sellers, all with no involvement from TAEUS personnel.
Unlike other patent sales and licensing websites whose offerings are based on "what's in it for me," TAEUS brought together a team of specialists in e-commerce to analyze the needs of the users-buyers and sellers of IP.
"You have to think bigger," says Art Nutter, President and CEO of TAEUS. "Better, faster and cheaper are important, but at the end of the day, the marketplace must cater to the needs of the buyers. TAEUS believes that openness will build this marketplace. The pay-to-play portal models presented to the IP market today only serve to fractionalize the marketplace-helping neither the buyer nor the seller of IP.
Fortune 500 Companies, universities, IP brokers, and other portals with their own websites can integrate with the TAEUS Patent Exchange by submitting an XML feed that complies with the Open-IP.org XSD specification for characterizing patents and technologies. All listings on the Patent Exchange will be syndicated via the Open-IP.org network of partner sites and patent analytics tools.
The Patent Exchange helps round out the TAEUS IP brokering and licensing services. Under the direction of Mr. Richard Ehrlickman, Executive Vice President of IP Transactions, the team provides services to help companies manage, protect, and capitalize on their portfolios.
The profit motivation for TAEUS is to leverage the free Patent Exchange into their traditional IP services. "If we host a half a million technologies, and a fraction opt to use our engineering, analytics or brokering services, we come out ahead," says Mr. Ehrlickman.
The Patent Exchange will also be a doorway into a suite of products and services that build on TAEUS' core reverse engineering, litigation support and IP transaction offerings.
