Importance of Parking Lot Striping

Odds are, for people with a brick and mortar business, you've a parking lot. Your parking lot is not only for your employees, but your customers. For this reason, it's important that you consider your parking lot an extension of your business. A poor parking lot may give potential customers the incorrect impression about the way you run your business. A significant part of a parking lot is the parking lot striping. The striping process should not be taken as an afterthought, and here some tips to ensure your parking lot striping looks first rate:

1. Go with a trusted contractor. You'll want to see previous work they've completed and obtain any recommendations. You need your parking lot to look as perfect as it can, and going with a poor contractor may backfire when your parking lot has squiggly lines all over it. Also remember you will discover federal regulations when striping a parking lot. A good contractor will probably be fully aware of these regulations.

2. Plan ahead. Sure, you might know how many parking spots you need now but what about down the road? You certainly don't want to end up with not enough spots when your business grows. Don't be afraid to too many parking spots, that's always better than not having enough.

3. Plan your lot accurately. An inefficient layout may end up in losing valuable parking spots. A great contractor will help you make a layout that will maximize your parking lot's potential. You will also need to take flow into consideration; you want to make sure the cars move in an efficient manner.

4. Be honest with your parking lots condition. Is it worth striping in its current state? Not just will the striping not look as good on a poor parking lot, you may find yourself fixing the parking lot soon afterwards; resulting in the loss of the striping. You should do any structural maintenance such as sealcoating prior to striping.

5. Don't sacrifice each spots size to get more parking spots into the lot. While it may seem like a good idea at first, your customers certainly won't appreciate getting door dings.

A well laid out parking lot will stop your customers from steering away from your business amd heading to competitors. Consider the money spent on your parking lot as an investment to your customers and show them your commitment. You most likely know the frustration of dodging potholes and poor parking spot space thanks to faded lines. You may have even made a mental note afterward to avoid going back to that lot; so be sure your customers aren't doing the same when they come to your business. Take your time to ensure it is a well thought out and sufficient lot. A well maintained parking lot will serve as a welcome mat to current customers, as well potential ones. Start by finding a contractor you can trust and watch your business grow!
