The Appeal of Honda Accords in Minneapolis

While driving the highways and surface roads of Minnesota you cannot help but notice the number of drivers tooling around in Honda Accords in Minneapolis. The Honda Accord has been around since its introduction in nineteen seventy six. The Accord started out as a larger version of the Honda Civic. This appealed to the economy conscious car buyer with a desire for extra room. The seventies were a rough time for the automobile industry with rising fuel prices and gas shortages. In its original configuration the Accord was a two door hatchback. As demand for more family friendly cars increased, in the compact car market, a four door version was made available. Quality, reliability, and improved understanding of the American consumer soon led to imported compact cars dominating the market. Some of these improvements included options such as automatic transmissions, air conditioning, and upgraded interior finishes. Power output was also improved to better fit the varied conditions of the American landscape.

The Honda Accords in Minneapolis you see today are a far cry from the original economy car of nineteen seventy six. Having a small economical car, moving to the four door, and even a station wagon option, and developing into a vehicle that provides comfort and features to the maturing American consumer shows just how nimble and forward thinking the company is and will continue to be when market forces dictate.

Many of the engineering features of the early Accords have made their way into a lot of the cars that are on the roads of America today. Probably the most prevalent is the use of a front wheel drive power configuration. Almost exclusively rear wheel drive cars populated the showrooms prior to the influx of cars from Japan. Now, especially in areas that weather can present unique traction challenges to any vehicle, it is no wonder why you see a large number of Honda Accords in Minneapolis and other major northern cities.
