They can cast beam of light up to a sufficiently long distance, thereby enhancing the utility of headlights. The driver can adjust the beam of light in the right direction by manipulating the reflectors and the lenses. Because of the headlights driver of a car can see the road ahead but they may also blind the driver of a vehicle coming from the opposite direction. To avoid that the headlights are located in such a position that they avoid blinding or devices like dimmers are used.

The housings of car headlights need a special mention because one can experiment with their designs and colors. Different materials can be used in making them. They can therefore function as a decorative item and provide a wide choice to the customers.
