With the right light bar police become more competent

A police light bar, which often coruscates on police vehicles even during daytime, holds in it more power than a casual onlooker may perceive. Light bars are mounted on the roof in most instances. However, light bars with back mounting provision are also available and are used in larger vehicles like police trucks. Some light bars have a control mechanism with which they can be raised and lowered to a height of up to 4' from the top. These are generally used by police for warning oncoming vehicles about the chances of a collision. With such a provision of the light bar police warning system remains better equipped.

Some of the back mounted light bars will display the brake turning signals also. This will help vehicles coming from behind. Some of the roof mounted light bars will have arrow sticks that help in controlling traffic. By sequential lighting of these sticks, police are able to divert traffic when there are roadblocks. When there is such a provision in a light bar police control of traffic becomes easy and efficient.

A light bar is equally handy for stealth operations. Thin light bars designed to be fitted under the visor or window, or can be detached and mounted at different places, are available in all sizes. There are also roof mounting light bars, which are flat and hug the roof so that they are not visible when not lighted. With the help of such a light bar police efficiency in undercover operations get a big boost.

Another part of a light bar that helps police in their duties is alley lights. Alley lights are focused sideways, and so light up the alleys and beyond on both sides of the vehicle.
