Acura - A brand of luxury

Acura is the brand which sells luxury cars of the most famous Japanese based automobile manufacturing company Honda motors. Acura markets all the luxury cars, performance and also all near performance vehicles of Japanese based Honda motors, which manufacture cars. Acura started to market Honda manufactured cars since 1986. Acura's market covers North American countries, which are USA, Canada Mexico and also China, along with Hong Kong. But interestingly, Acura has not yet been launched in the Japanese market. Acura's headquarters is in California. Acura was introduced in North American region as a result of Voluntary Export Restraints duty that was imposed by Japan in America. This resulted in increase in number of luxury cars that were exported to America by Japan.

Acura has introduced cars as different generations and different models. Acura, at present has 6 categories under which it has various models of its cars. The 6 categories are RL, TL, TSX, ZDX, MDX, and RDX. In 1986, Honda launched only two of its luxury cars under the Acura. Honda launched 2 models, which was named executive class Legend and compact class Integra in 1986. Executive class Legend was a V6 powered Sedan while compact class Integra had a three door or five door hatchback options to choose from. The first two models were an instant hit in the North American market and proved to be a tough competition for all other leading luxury car manufacturers like Toyota. After 5 years, Acura introduced its first sports car version, which was named NSX. NSX was a V6 powered sports car which also had a rear wheel drive and proved as a competitor for Ferrari and other sports cars. In the year 2000, Acura brand introduced a few redesigned models of its existing 3.2 TL cars.

Timelines of Acura models introduction have been spread across 25 years period. After its first debut in 1986, it took 4 years for Acura to introduce its second generation Integra model. In 1991, Acura established its market in Hong Kong with the help of Reliance Motors. The third generation Integra was introduced in the year 1994. In 1996, Acura CL category model was launched in the market. The model that was introduced was coupe. In 1997, Integra model type R was introduced in the market and 1.6 EL model Sedan was also introduced in the market. Integra Sedan model was continued for sales in the US market until 2001. In the year 2000, Acura introduced its first MDX category model car in the market. In the year 2001, 1.7 EL model was launched and this 1.7 EL model replaced the 1.6 EL model in the Canadian market. In the year 2002, the premium Integra model was replaced by the newly launched RDX model. Later, in the year 2003 CL model went out of production. In the year 2004, Acura entered Mexican market and also introduced third generation TL model in the market. It also introduced TSX model in the market in the same year. In the year 2005 to 2010, various remodels were carried out in many Acura cars.
