An LED light bar can be fixed all over the vehicle

Though more people are familiar with seeing an LED light bar on the roof a police vehicle, roof is not the only place where a light bar can be mounted. Many of the larger vehicles like trucks have light bars mounted on the rear side. Based on its size and design, the LED light bar may be mounted on the bumper at the back, or between the bumper and the bed of the vehicle. Many light bars are designed to be used variously as running lights, turn signals, brake lights, and parking lights. Some will also have reverse lighting capabilities added to it.

Light bars are available in various sizes and even for roof mounting and back mounting there are smaller ones meant for use in mini trucks, SUVs etc. The so-called long tailgate LED light bar is designed to be mounted between the bumper and the tailgate. Lights can be controlled electronically in tailgate light bars with red LED used in brake lighting, white used in reverse lighting, and amber in turn signals.

An LED light bar meant to be mounted outside a vehicle will typically be encased in a waterproof covering. Most manufacturers even take care to provide rust proof steel screws to make the light bar last as long as the LED bulb which typically has a very long life. There are also light bars that can be just plugged in and mounted with magnetic mounts or suction cups.

While light bars can be custom fitted on any vehicle, there are also flexible designs that will let an LED light bar to be mounted on any contour. A low profile LED light bar whether at the roof or at the back will be mounted with adhesive pads and not with screws and the casing will be made in such a way that it will not show at all. Till such time the lights are on, the light bar will be practically invisible.

In the case of an ambulance also a large LED light bar may remain mounted on the roof. But smaller light bars can be fitted on various parts of the vehicle. Small lights bars may be mounted on an ambulance on the grill or the bumper, especially at the back to make it easy for the following vehicles. A rear loading light is a necessity in an ambulance near the door through which the stretcher or patient is generally let in. A small LED light bar will be a necessity in the patient cabin also where it will be sometimes necessary to attend to the patient.

Besides police vehicles and ambulances an LED light bar will adorn all types of rescue squad vehicles. LED is the popular choice today because LED lights never conk out in the middle of an operation. Light intensity wise also it is the popular choice of most emergency vehicle users. All types of firefighting vehicles, and emergency medical services involved in water rescues, rope rescues, building collapse rescues, or at motor accident sites, prefers to have more than one LED light bar at different parts of their vehicles.
