2007 Mercury Montego Reviews

Not quite as much of a muscle car as the competing Ford and Chevy models, the 2007 Mercury Montego can be considered a “lower-end” American muscle car. Like those competitors, its roots also trace back to early 1960s. It was Mercury Comet’s successor, and it was initially purposed to be an American competition to automobiles being imported in. Under the hood, though, the original Montego wasn’t much different from Ford’s Torino model.

The 2007 Mercury Montego’s sister car is the Ford 500, which both share the same Volvo blueprint, but were marketed to different consumer groups. It’s a quick car, without a doubt, but unfortunately you won’t find a Montego with a V8 engine (unless it was custom-made). It comes with a standard 6-speed transmission running a 3-liter V6 engine, which puts it slightly above the competition like the foreign Mazda. The 2007 Mercury Montego features all-wheel drive powering smooth handling dynamics. Many will argue that this model lacks performance, but others will say that it makes up for it in luxury and great balance on the road.

• Spacious design – plenty of leg room in front and back, and a 21 cubic ft trunk

The base model of the 2007 Mercury Montego is called the Luxury, and the souped up version of it is called the Premier. The latter has some nice extra perks like heated leather seats, a better stereo, 18” wheels instead of the basic 17”, wood trim, and two programmable presets for the mirrors, which is good if the car will be driven by more than one person. Unfortunately, it still doesn’t come on par with the Japanese models imported for the year 2007; the materials and workmanship of competing brands from overseas is way above average, and it’s no surprise. Still, though – for a comfortable drive on highways, cities, and even curvy paths, your 2007 Mercury Montego will meet adventures lying ahead of you with much style and very good overall performance. For a great deal, check out a local car auction, because the 2007 Mercury Montego has poor resale value – consider getting a used vehicle for a fraction of the cost of a brand new model if you’re in the market.
