Gunshot victim charged with giving false information

Boatwright was shot in the upper thigh, with the bullet exiting near the knee.

The man who took Boatwright to the hospital identified himself as Jimmy Boatwright before leaving, police said. Boatwright's girlfriend also identified the gunshot victim as Jeremy Smith.

Boatwright also was wanted on a probation violation warrant, police said.

Arrests

• Carlos Lopez-Gomez, 42, 1012 Fifth Ave. S.E., was charged Sunday with driving under the influence and failure to stop for an accident.

Lopez-Gomez was arrested following a traffic stop after a motorist reported that the driver of a white Dodge Intrepid hit her sister's Ford Expedition and left the scene. The accident occurred at about 12:30 a.m. in the Sunset Plaza parking lot in the 2500 block of South Main Street, police reports said.

An officer stopped the Dodge and, after Lopez-Gomez appeared unsteady while walking, had him tested at the scene for alcohol, with the test indicating that he was under the influence, police said. When he was taken to jail for a second test, Lopez-Gomez fell asleep and refused to wake up.

• Jorge Saldana, 28, was charged Sunday with affray, and Jonathan Luna Velazquez, 22, 2486 Ga. Hwy. 133 South, was charged Sunday with affray and simple battery(such as dell Inspiron 1525 battery, dell Inspiron 1526 battery, Dell HP297 battery.

The men were arrested after police broke up a fight in the parking lot of Sunset Plaza in the 2500 block of South Main Street, as patrons were leaving Latino's Night Club, police said.

According to police, officers saw Velazquez swing at an unknown man, and then saw Saldana hit Velazquez in the back of the head. Velazquez also is accused of kicking an officer who was trying to put him in a police car.

• Fabiola Moreno, 22, 413 11th Court S.E., was charged Sunday with reckless conduct.

• Willie Lewis Jr., 22, 711 Sixth St. N.W., was charged Saturday with simple battery and interfering with a 911 telephone call.

Khandra Singletary, 500 block 27th Street Southeast, reported that Lewis shoved her, pulled her hair and scratched her during an argument. Lewis also is accused of taking Singletary's telephone away from her so she could not make an emergency call.

• Israel Ciriaco, 27, Regency Village, was charged with no driver's license and improper lane change.

 

Thefts

• Jason Fulghan, 1700 block Gatewood Circle, reported Friday the theft of a Mongoose bicycle.

• Clarence Merritt, 2400 block Jacqueline Circle, reported Saturday the theft of a stove from a house in the 400 block of Eighth Street Southwest.

• Video Warehouse, 201 10th Street S.E., reported Sunday that a juvenile concealed three adult DVDs in the crotch of his pants and attempted to leave the store. The juvenile returned the DVDs when he was confronted by an employee. Police said the juvenile was released to his mother.

 

Assaults

• Essie Mae Allen, 800 block Joe Lewis Avenue Northwest, reported Saturday that blocks were thrown through two bedroom windows at her residence. Mark Allen received a cut to his leg from broken glass, police said, and emergency medical personnel were called to treat him.

• Timothy Johnson, 900 block Eighth Avenue Northwest, reported Friday that a female acquaintance scratched his right ear and upper body during an incident that occurred a week earlier.

• Felicia Thomas, 1500 block Fourth Avenue Northeast, reported Sunday that two unknown juveniles attacked her son, hitting him in the face. The victim had no visible injuries and the juveniles were not there when the officer arrived, police said.

• Leanys Perez, 400 block Coventry Circle, reported Monday that a male acquaintance was looking in the windows of her residence. A bond stipulation related to a previous family violence arrest prohibits the man from being near Perez, police reports said.

• Dora Garcia, 200 block Middle Brooks Street, Norman Park, reported Sunday the theft of five pairs of blue jeans and a Motorola cellular telephone.

• Juan Carlos Arrenondo, 300 block Big Bear Boulevard, Norman Park, reported Saturday the theft of $1,000 in cash.

• Karen Morris, 6000 block Moree Lane, Albany, reported Friday the theft of a Garmin GPS unit and a $54 gift card from her vehicle.

• Juan Antillon, 400 block Old Norman Park Road, reported Friday the theft of a Phillips plasma television, DVDs, Toshiba plasma television, Phillips iPod player, Motorola cellular telephone, Phillips MP3 player, Toshiba DVD player, $1,600 in cash and shirts.

• Denise Harrell, 4500 block Ellenton-Omega Road, reported Friday that a male acquaintance took a Honda three-wheeler from her residence on Feb. 2 and refuses to return it.

 

Assaults

• Ausha Luster, 100 block Robin Lane, reported Sunday that a male acquaintance came to her residence, pushed her and threatened her.

Luster told the officer that she hit the man's car with a baseball bat as he was leaving.

Marcus Demond Moore told the officer that he went to Luster's residence after she called to tell him their child was sick. He denied pushing Luster, but confirmed that she hit his vehicle with a bat.

 

Property damage

• Kirt Brown, 200 block Indian Lake Drive, Norman Park, reported Saturday that a man broke the rear-view and passenger-side mirrors of his Ford Expedition.

Brown reported that a female acquaintance used his truck to take the man home from a bar in Mitchell County, and that he damaged the truck after the woman put the man out in Funston after they got into an argument.
