Chicago Chevy Silverado drivers will have the chance to drive the Chevy Volt in new videogame
When commercials, print ads, outdoor advertising and even online pop-ups aren't enough, what's a car maker to do? Maybe slip in an ad in a video game? Perhaps it's not that the mainstream media isn't working, but that a whole other audience can be reached through this slightly offbeat venue.
Movie advertising has worked for many years so why not another area targeting much of the same audience? General Motors is hoping to repeats its success from the Transformersseries by inserting the 2011 Chevrolet Volt in a video game. Itasca Chevy Silverado dealers understand that this type of advertising will only increase potential buyers to one more level of exposure to the product.
This, of course will not be the first car to appear in a video game, but it might be the most unexpected one. The Volt will appear as an unlockable car in the new Joy Ride game. It will be the first game to use the groundbreaking Kinect control system by Microsoft.
Kinect utilizes some intricate technology to turn the player into the virtual game controller via body parts. There's no need for buttons or sticks or any other distracting and finger-numbing devices. Players will have the opportunity to build a customized Volt online and drag it over to the game where they will compete with others. Chicago Chevy Silverado dealer should think about offering free access or promo play to customers in the showroom. Even if the parents don't get it, the kids will love it!
Whether or not this will a shared game has not been announced, but it is expected to work much like the Xbox Live. So not only will Chevy likely have additional fans building virtual Volts, but they will likely share them with friends and maybe even take a real one for a drive. The possibilities and sales could be endless. Itasca Chevy Silverado dealers hope this game, the first ever of its kind, will bring Volt into the spotlight.
Volt may also be the first exposure many of this younger generation have to an electric car. General Motors hopes the game will give a true picture of the Volt so it will dispel some myths about electric range vehicles. After all, there is a back up gasoline engine, so it's not like you're in the middle of a race and just have your car shut down in the middle of the road.
Chicago Chevy Silverado customers should enjoy the video game, but be sure to take a ride in the real thing when it gets to the showroom. The Volt will be better in reality.

Chevy Ss (Paperback) $44.8 On the 1957 auto show circuit, Chevrolet unveiled a show car based on its Corvette and dubbed it the “Super Sport.” The performance car world took one look and never looked back. A combination of styling and performance upgrades, the SS package could turn something as mundane as a six-cylinder Malibu into the fire-breathing Chevelle SS396. This book traces the long line of legendary SS models, from Chevy’s Super Sport version of its popular Impala, which marked the dawn of the muscle car era, to today’s Impala SS. Featuring the work of acclaimed photo ace David Newhardt, Chevy SS: The Super Sport Story provides a close-up, detailed, full-color look at such classic muscle cars as the Chevelle, the El Camino, the Malibu, and the Monte Carlo as well as today`s hot Camaro SS. The book is a fittingly elegant celebration of the cars that redefined “high performance” and defined an era. |

Turn! Turn! Turn $32.83 The early-1960s advent of the Beatles did more than change the face of rock music--it forced many folk musicians to rethink their careers, abandoning the gentle, mild-mannered protest songs they'd grown accustomed to performing throughout much of the preceding decade. These musicians' adaptations of the raucous new sounds quickly became a force unto themselves; lyrics, too, grew more strident, while retaining their socially conscious core. Folk-rock, as the new genre became known, was fertile ground for rock musicians seeking a more expressive means of communication, and for folk musicians looking to add something a little grittier to their art. TURN! TURN! TURN!, Richie Unterberger's well-researched chronicle of the genre, explores the early inklings of change as experienced by such musicians as John Sebastian, Gene Clark, and David Crosby, examining seminal events like the riotous reception given Bob Dylan's use of electric instruments at the Newport Folk Festival, the 1960s folk-rock boom, and the rise of singer-songwriters like Judy Collins and Tim Hardin. Featuring extensive interviews with some of the movement's most significant artists, TURN! TURN! TURN! is a comprehensive overview of this important crossroads in rock history. |
